Emily Anne Mochidome Kuriyama, 24, passed away on May 2, 2016. Emily was born in Torrance, CA, on July 5, 1991.  She spent her childhood years in Redondo Beach, CA. She is survived by her parents Hitomi Mochidome (Glenn Miyake) and Jerry Kuriyama (Roya Kuriyama), brother Matthew, her grandmother and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Emily Anne Mochidome Kuriyama completed her BA in Art History at UCLA. As an undergraduate, Emily Anne edited the third and fourth issues of GRAPHITE Interdisciplinary Journal of the Arts, and was part of the Hammer Student Association.  She worked as an education programs intern at the Architecture + Design Museum, and was a student educator at the Hammer Museum. She published the art journals Young Cloud and Baumtest in collaboration with her friends. At the time of her passing she was a Masters candidate in Creative Writing at Cal Arts while working for the artist Matthew Brandt. To her many friends, classmates, collaborators, colleagues, and family, the days will begin anew, and we will remember her for all she was, and all she could be. Services will be held in a private ceremony. The family would like to acknowledge and express our gratitude for all your thoughts and heartfelt expressions of sympathy.
