Obituary for Sarah Yoko Tanimoto

TANIMOTO, SARAH YOKO (88) passed away on January 24, 2010 in Los Angeles after a long illness.  Sarah married  Arthur Akira Tanimoto  in 1945, and were happily married until his death in 2001.  Their marriage produced four children; Frank  Tanimoto (deceased), James Tanimoto, Aileen Tanimoto-Matsuura, and Joanne Tanimoto-Carmichael. Sarah was the loving grandmother of seven grandchildren: Joy Hanson;  Brianna, Bryan, Blair and Brynn Matsuura; and Joleen  and Jonah Carmichael, and two great-grand children, Caleb and Liam Hanson. Sarah’s  life was enriched by her daughter-in-laws Sara Tanimoto and Anna  Flores; and her son-in-laws,  Stacey Matsuura and Joel Carmichael and her sisters-in-laws, Helen (Kay) Tamaki and Alice Watanabe.  Sarah appreciated and the kindness of long time friend and care giver, Kekoa Karen Sato and many nieces and nephews. All who knew her were enriched by sharing Sarah’s life.  

 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 11:00AM at Bella Vista United Methodist Church also known as Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 2233 S. Findlay Ave., Monterey Park, CA with Rev. George Nishikawa and Rev. Mamie Ko officiating.
