Obituary for Tokio Katayama

KATAYAMA, TOKIO (88), passed away on June 19, 2010 in Oxnard.  A longtime member of the Oxnard Gardener’s Association, Tok was a WWII Veteran and a member of the highly decorated 442nd Regimental Combat Team.  He was an avid fisherman and when he wasn’t fishing, enjoyed tending to his Bonsai plants and gardens.  His greatest love was his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren.  He is survived by his children, Robert (Paula), Danny (Eileen), and David Katayama; grandchildren, Kristoffer (Harmoni) Akao, Kimiko and Brett Usuki, Wesley and Aaron Katayama;  sibling, Hatsumi Wakatsuki as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives.  He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian, daughters Kathleen (James) Akao, Vickie Usuki and brothers Tsuneo and Ted.  

 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 4:00PM at Oxnard Buddhist Temple, 250 South H Street, Oxnard, CA.
